EFCC arrested 12 suspected Yahoo Yahoo boys

It’s a known fact that Yahoo Yahoo Boys are on the rise in Nigeria especially since the recession set in. These Internet fraudsters torment the environment with luxury rides, designer outfits and also get to flock around with the most beautiful girls. They make their presence known at every club and every party. Yahoo Yahoo Boys are known to exist in most Nigerian schools.

It was not a surprise when on Friday, May 11 the EFCC arrested 12 suspected Yahoo boys in the Ikoyi area of Lagos. The EFCC stormed the popular Club 57 on Awolowo Way, Ikoyi, where the suspected “yahoo yahoo boys” were rounded up, following intelligence report. According to the EFCC Facebook page some of the suspects abandoned their exotic cars to avoid arrest, some others put up resistance, thereby turning the environ into a war-like zone of sorts. From this raid a total of 10 cars were recovered.

Who are Yahoo Yahoo Boys?
Yahoo boys are named so after one of the hugest Internet companies on the planet – Yahoo!, because many scammers often use its free e-mail accounts to commit their crimes.

For Nigerian law, yahoo boys are people who carry out 419 fraud. This number refers to the article of the Nigerian Criminal Code, which directly deals with fraud.

It is also a kind of a swindle in which the lawyer usually proposes plenty of money for a smaller up-front deal. How to become a yahoo boy in Nigeria? Internet fraud became widely accessible simultaneously in Nigeria and Ghana in early 2000.

This act has quickly become a real trend amongst young people. Yahoo boys have become surprisingly respected people. Therefore, Internet fraud has rapidly allowed many young Nigerians buying expensive cars, houses, jewelry, etc.

Instead of getting a legal job, many young people in Nigeria today dream of becoming a yahoo yahoo boy.
